I've had several inquiries already this morning from football fans already planning their menu for their Super Bowl parties. It seems like a lot of people have a tradition of serving food from the home cities/states of the two teams. People can pretty easily figure out what to serve to represent the Chicago Bears - Chicago-style pizza, hot dogs, etc. but most folks outside of Indiana have no idea what our Hoosier food traditions are. I'm recommending tenderloins, ribeye sandwiches (of county and state fair fame), and sugar cream pie. Any other ideas?

Thank you! I was hoping that I didn't have to choose between pork 'n' beans or baking powder. I would love to see more suggestions.

how about some uniquely indianapolis food ideas for a super bowl party? there must be some food item that is unique to indianapolis as opposed to say south bend or mishiwaka...

Well, you could always get some of the cocktail sauce from St. Elmo's Steakhouse and do a shrimp cocktail that your nostrils will never forget.
You could also serve the traditional drink of the Winner's Circle of the Indy 500 (milk).

C'mon, get creative, people. Howbout corn chowder? Corn casserole? You people have more corn than you know what to do with out there, no?
Nobody's going to be fired up to see "milk" on the menu representing the Colts at a Super Bowl party ...

How could you forget potatoes! What we called "scalloped" with a cheese sauce made with velveeta mixed with a basic white sauce. Pour sauce over sliced potatoes and bake.
Or left over mashed potatoes patted into patties, lightly floured and fried in bacon grease, if you have it. I like these with a little cottage cheese on top.
Another sandwich type food--ham salad (made with bologna of course). Grind in meat grinder, mix with chopped sweet pickles, and miracle whip.
Yikes! Better wash that all down with a salad and some cholesterol medicine.
