Fried Biscuits
Indianapolis food blogger, Feed Me/Drink Me poses an interesting question, "What's the deal with fried biscuits and apple butter in Indiana. A friend of hers suggested it was a "Southern thing" and not just an Indiana thing. I did some quick Google-based research and found the following.
Perform a search on "fried biscuits" "apple butter" and "Indiana" and you get 470 hits. Take out "Indiana" and perform the same search and you get 1,200 hits. That means that nearly 40% of the hits associate these with the Hoosier state. So, they may not be entirely exclusive to Indiana but there is some kind of connection. If you have some insight into this connection, drop by Feed Me/Drink Me or leave a comment here.
Look for this Hungry Hoosier Seal of Approval at Indiana restaurants and other food-related businesses
I am searching for a recipe for fried biscuits, and I searched Google for "hoosier fried biscuit." I got 19,100 hits. So there is definitely something to the Indiana connection.
