Holiday World Unplugged
Our family spent the weekend at Holiday World and Spashin' Safari in Santa Claus Indiana. We went with several other families, shared cabins, and had a great time. I gave the title "Unplugged" to this post because I had neither Internet service nor cell phone coverage while there, and have lived to tell the tale. Now, if you are a Hoosier, you most certainly know about Holiday World. You may not know that they maintain a very entertaining blog here. As far as grub goes, I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. We ate at two different places - Goblin Burgers in Halloween and The Alamo in Fourth of July. Now, neither of these places is serving gourmet cuisine but the food good and and priced with families in mind, about what you would pay for comparable food outside the park. No inflated prices for their captive audience like most amusement parks and other attractions.
One nice extra at the Goblin Brother is that along with the char-grilled burger, they serve lettuce, tomato, pickle, and onion is a plastic bag. The vegetables were fresh and crisp. The Alamo's menu was Tex-Mex that was several notches about Taco Bell fare. Of course, Holiday World's claim to fame in the food and beverage department is the unlimited drinks offered throughout the park. With a 90-plus degree day we all took full advantage of this feature.
This may have been our first family trip to Holiday World but I expect that it will become a family tradition. At breakfast Sunday morning before we left the campground, Henry's (five) wanted to say a blessing that went something like this, "God, thank you for this food, for mommy, daddy, Oliver, my friends, and the water park. Amen."

I love Holiday World. Everything at that park is top-notch! From great Customer Service (with a smaile) to Thrill Rides (I can't wait to sail away on Voyage again) to good food at good prices (next time try the fried Oreos). Well, I could go on and on about the park...
It is the one park I can get my wife to every year without even having to try to convince her...and that's saying a lot! ;)
