City View Coffee & Tea Company, Franklin

Hpim0233_1When I am headed south of Indianapolis on I-65 I try to give myself time enough to stop by City View Coffee & Tea Company in Franklin, Indiana. In a world of mega-chain coffee houses, City View is an independent that feels hip and cool and warm and welcoming all at the same time. Owners/Operators Rick and Amy Chase have done a great job creating both the menu and the ambiance at City view. Look closely at some of the decoupaged tabletops and you might learn a little about about the Chase family. The cafe is located in an old house that has been immaculately restored. Seating is available both inside and outside during good weather.

They offer a full espresso and tea menu as well as breakfast and lunch selections. The menu is available here.  On past visits I've had the Chicken Pesto Panini ($6.25) which includes sliced chicken, bacon, Munster and Provolone cheeses, romaine, tomato, Caesar dressing, and pesto on an herbed ciabatta - good stuff. On this visit they were serving a coffee with extra caffeine. I passed on that.

City View also offers free WiFi which is always a big bonus in my book. They are located at 1037 West Jefferson Street in Franklin, Indiana. They can be reached by phone at 317-736-3100 and their hours of operation are Monday - Saturday 6:30 am to 8 pm. They are closed on Sunday.
