I had a couple of genealogy-related emails this weekend - people looking for Hutchesons to whom they may be related. None of them were a match for me but it did cause me to spend 20 minutes or so trying to add another branch or two to my family tree. Several years ago I got stuck at six generations back, not including me. This weekend I found a seventh. I can now trace my family back to Mecklenburg, Virginia where my great-great-great-great-great-grandfather, William Caswell Hutcheson lived. I also learned that he was a member of the 1632 Virginia House of Burgesses - the very first elected assembly of the New World. This painting is of Patrick Henry addressing the House of Burgesses. I wonder if one of these powder-wigged dudes is my ancestor.
